Do you have luck?

In the Psychology Today article, "Why You Should Believe in Luck" author Craig Dowden talks about the impact of believing in luck. It's funny but the debate about what luck is, if it is divine or random, has been going on for eons. A quick look at the Wikipedia entry on luck quotes Max Gunther's definition as "events that influence one's life and are seemingly beyond one's control". What if these events, to some part, are not out of your control?

"What was most interesting to me about this research was how the participants’ beliefs about luck impacted their drive for success. People who saw their luck as stable tended to have a significantly higher drive to succeed than those who viewed it as transitory. " - Craig Dowden, Ph.D.

This reminded me of  my "Cosmic or Coincidence: The Value Of Belief" post where I suggest that no matter what the reason, the energy behind the belief can have a positive impact. So it doesn't matter if luck is real or a mystical force because by simply having a positive outlook on your fortune you have a greater chance of altering it's outcome. Think of it as a discipline. By constantly filling your mind with positive thoughts you will train it to act subconsciously in that direction!

What are your thoughts on luck?
