Getting YouTube content by using Periscope.

Improve your SEO with Periscope
On HeavyZen, my personal blog, I decided to use the power of Periscope to talk about my weight-loss and recent experiment with an egg fast. Periscope is an easy to use tool that allows you to create "live" broadcasts where people can tune in to listen to your message. Just like YouTube, these live broadcasts are rated by the number of users and the total time they view. An added benefit  is that you get immediate input from your viewers by chat and "love" hearts.

Here is a great post on how to use Periscope

So why use Periscope?

Simply put, not only does live streaming allow the public to get a better look at you, your product, your training, and your company but it also helps build a 1:1 relationship. On top of that it allows you to add another raw dimension to your content.
"Livestreaming has the potential to be used in multiple facets of business—not just marketing. It’s a powerful new tool for boosting communication within your company. And it can also used to create meaningful customer experiences that are informative, entertaining, and beneficial to your audience." - Elizabeth Closmore Sprinklr
Still not convinced? In today's world people are well informed. To succeed you really have to do something that makes you stand out. Lets say you work for a tech company that develops a cutting edge tool. What makes your different? Sure, maybe your product has features that makes it different but what really makes you stand out? It's your service, how you focus on the industry, and its how you deal with your customers needs. Imagine using something like Periscope to give a live "one on one" with the product manager? I mean, really getting personal and answering questions. This can go along way in developing a relationship that lasts.

Why did I use Periscope?

The first thing you will notice is that the video isn't as sharp as when I take it directly from my camera. This is because the file is a download of a stream replay. Don't get me wrong, I am still exploring ways on improving the quality but that isn't really what this is about. It's about the raw content and how it adds to your message.

What do I mean? Your broadcasts value goes way beyond the initial session. Although this "raw" concept feels normal on YouTube, I mean everyone's how to video has that raw feeling, using Periscope adds a live interaction that really hasn't been available to everyone.

Here are ways that I have used it to develop more content and viewers.

  • Original broadcast is tweeted and sent to you followers.
  • The replay is added your YouTube Channel.  - Import your Periscope video into YouTube
  • You can create multiple blog posts that talk about each broadcast.
  • A quick screenshot of the stream allows you to share on your Instagram page.
  • You have the opportunity to tweet each one of these actions.
  • Things I haven't even thought of.

Matter of fact, here is a video that talks about what I have found out while using Periscope.
